Meadows of Wild Flowers

plants and paths at Wisley

Working with our partners at Woking Borough Council & Serco we are trialing alternative grass cutting programmes on three amenity greens at Ash Road, Hammond Road & Victoria Road. The aim of the project is to improve bio diversity & provide interest for residents. Short grass looks neat but has very little value to wildlife. Longer grass provides cover & food for many species, some of the most visible being butterflies, bees & hoverflies. The sites have paths cut through the longer grass & also borders cut short to keep the long grass areas clearly defined & looking neat. This trial will be reviewed at the end of the summer months and comments are welcome so we can review feedback at the end of the summer.
